Attendance
Attendance Tips
1. Set a Consistent Routine
Help your child go to bed and wake up at the same time every day to ensure they’re well-rested and ready for school.
2. Prepare the Night Before
Lay out clothes, pack lunches, and gather school supplies the night before to make mornings smoother and less rushed.
3. Schedule Appointments Wisely
Whenever possible, schedule doctor or dentist appointments outside of school hours or during breaks.
4. Avoid Vacations During School Days
Try to plan family trips during holidays and school breaks to avoid missing valuable learning time.
5. Keep Track of Absences
Know how many days your child has missed. Too many absences— excused or not—can impact learning and progress.
6. Communicate With the School
Let the school know if your child is sick or if there’s a family emergency. Stay in touch with your child’s teacher about make-up work.
7. Encourage a Positive Attitude
Talk about school in a positive way. Help your child understand that being on time and present every day shows responsibility.
8. Know the School’s Attendance Policy
Familiarize yourself with the attendance guidelines, including how to report an absence and what counts as excused.
